#11- Saint Patrick's Day

I am decked out in my finest green polo shirt today and I am bound to see hundreds more people doing the same thing.

That's because today is St. Patrick's day. It is a day when people pull out their one green piece of clothing they have been saving all year and honour the patron saint of Ireland.

I love this day because not only was St. Patrick a pretty cool guy and worthy of honour, but when else can you see thousands of people walking around campus in the same colour. When else is green the only acceptable colour of beer. When else can you hear Canada's own Great Big Sea coming out of speakers, ipods and computers all day.

Yes, today is one of those days when everyone is in a festive mood, when spring is upon us and the colour green isn't only starting to appear beneath the melting snow, but in almost every piece of clothing there is.

So I am grateful for St. Patrick's day, for the great man himself, and for how a single colour can unite people on this day.
